New talents

So our ward Primary program is coming up in two weeks.  (short pause to take a few breaths to calm down).  I'm pretty nervous about this.  Actually, I'm a LOT nervous.  I have only directed the kids in front of the whole congregation twice before and that was for only one song.  I'm not sure how excited I am about the idea of people "staring" at my backside for an hour.  (Although, I know they aren't paying any attention to me at all, I can't help but think that).  : )  Anyway, I may be nervous, but I'm also very excited about how this program will turn out.  Our Primary First Counselor did a GREAT job writing the program.  It's perfect for our large number of kids.  And I love the fact that each child that has a part only has a short part to memorize so it's not so stressful on them or their parents.  Phew!!

I really am starting to like this calling.  Now that I've done enough "new or different" games/activities with the kids in teaching new songs, I can see why people love this calling.  It's still time consuming, but kinda fun to think about.  It's definitely helped my creative juices flow.  And the best part of this calling is that anytime I see one of the primary kids outside of church, they all smile and say, "Hey, you're my teacher!!"  (seriously,  EVERY single one of the kids have said something like that).  And it's usually followed up with a hug.  It makes me smile in return and feel like I'm doing something important and special in their lives.  And that has helped me feel good about my role as a daughter of God, teacher, and mother of kids.  I thank my Heavenly Father for helping me remember this blessing and for giving me a talent in music (even if I've had to develop a new one as "chorister").
